About Catalyst

Robin and her 3-1/2 year old Shih Zhu, Mia, out in the garden.

My name is Robin Carlen-Murray, and I started Catalyst Career Consulting because I am passionate about helping people to find fulfillment in their careers, whether they work in the corporate world, are fledgling entrepreneurs in need of motivation and support, or dream of turning a business idea into reality.

I have over 15 years' of experience in both small start ups and large corporations within Silicon Valley as a Human Resources, Organizational Development, Recruiting and Training professional.  I hold a B.S. Degree in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco.

During the years I spent in the Medical Device, High-Tech, Healthcare Systems, Recruitment and Airline industries, I worked closely with both employees and managers to help them effectively handle almost every situation imaginable.

What Career Coaches Do:

  • Connect people with a deeper level of motivation than “just a job” by helping clients to discover their values, motivators, interests, skills, passion and purpose, which empowers them to choose work they love, make a good living and still have a balanced life

  • Create effective coaching interactions by listening, providing feedback, and asking powerful questions, acting as a catalyst to help clients to discover their own unique answers

  • Help remove blocks to their clients' career or business success by working with them to address their interpersonal skills, limiting beliefs, incomplete awareness of marketable skills, lack of purpose or clarify

  • Assist clients in becoming "career self-reliant", taking control and ownership of their own career or business development

  • Provide resources and options their clients may not have considered or been aware of to help them reach their goals faster than if they were to pursue them alone

  • Increase their clients' individual potential for career or business growth and future earning power by working with them on salary negotiation and other skills

  • Provide a supportive, yet action-oriented environment to help clients stay motivated and moving towards their goals

  • Improve their clients' ability to market and sell themselves in the job market, regardless of economic conditions
